In her previous life, Iris worked full-time on the railways for Network Rail, providing shelter and refreshments to engineers. After searching long and hard for a great van, we were lucky enough to find Iris and soon after turned her over to the excellent folks at Wandering Wheels.
In our experience, most vans aren’t made for families of four, who also need to accommodate two child seats. Our brief was for a flexible but comfy and attractive mobile home that could safely transport and house our growing family without anyone being banished to a drafty pop up or awning.
We wanted our van to provide a cosy retreat for sleep but also somewhere to eat and relax as a family. As we have young children, we needed a big enough bed to allow us all to fit on occasion, but strong enough bunks to last as they grow. Wooden cladding and beautiful copper detailing helped complete an inviting, modern, family camper van.
Iris sleeps up to four, ideally suited to two adults and two children. The benches convert into a large double bed. Two beds can then be suspended above this to create another two snug sleeping spaces (1.4 meters length).
5 seated chairs, all with three point harnesses and head rests. Three in the front cab, then two in the back facing each other with a collapsible table between.
Iris is kept on the residential street by our house in West Sheffield. You will be astonished at how quickly you can be in the stunning hills and valleys of the Peak District, after setting off. We are also conveniently close to the M1 for travel North or South.
If you drive to collect Iris, you are welcome to leave your car on our street at owners own risk. If you come by train, we are easily reachable by bus or tram.
