Dear camping friends and motorhome enthusiasts,
The Nugget is an ingenious multi-tool that allows you to use both campsites and pitches. We used it for eight years. Initially, we spent a lot of time at campsites, but from 2020 to 2023, we primarily used pitches with sanitary facilities.
It is also possible to travel independently with it, but due to the existing battery capacity, this will only last for about 2 days if the cooler is to remain in operation.
We can recommend it for a family with one or two small children, or two adults traveling alone. Especially for those who have previously traveled with a bike, tent, and air mattress. But also for anyone who values the camping feeling and a camper that can go anywhere you can go with a normal 5-meter van—namely, right into city centers (but please not into a parking garage or underground car park). In our view, that's the big advantage of a camper van like the Nugget, California, or whatever, compared to a semi- or fully integrated motorhome that's 7 or 8 meters long... the "little one" fits everywhere.
Despite having four sleeping spaces, it's not suitable for four adults, as it would be very cramped, and the permissible total weight would certainly be exceeded in full camping gear. However, dogs are definitely welcome – but only small ones up to 10 kg (the last renter found it simply wouldn't fit with his 40 kg dog).
Otherwise, camping life only takes place in front of the camper under the awning when the weather is nice - and in bad weather in the dinette with a fine drink and a good film (assuming you have "charged" your notebook or tablet at home with enough interesting content or Wi-Fi is available on site).
We could write a lot more here about the advantages of a Nugget with a high roof and its space concept compared to other camper vans.
But we think this is unnecessary. Anyone looking for a Nugget knows what they want and what they're getting—otherwise, there's plenty of information about the Nugget on YouTube.
The photos may be a bit confusing, as they show our camper partly before 2022 and partly after.
In 2022, we upgraded the camper to black 17" rims with all-season tires, replaced the awning with a new anthracite-colored one, installed a bike rack on the tailgate (which was primarily used as a towel and clothes dryer), and had the bench and front seats upholstered in leather. We also replaced the starter batteries and the two 95 Ah AGM auxiliary batteries.
The camper van is equipped with everything you need for camping.
In addition to a 40-liter fresh and waste water tank, a two-burner gas stove, a sink with a hot water mixer tap, a 40-liter cooler in the L-shaped kitchen, and a Porta Potti, there's also a small gas-cartridge grill, two or four camping chairs, and a height-adjustable camping table for outdoor use. Cutlery, glasses, cups, pans, pots, and more are also on board.
There is a connection for an outdoor shower (cold water) at the rear.
The awning comes with a front part, two side parts and two corner parts, which can be used to create a partially or completely closed awning.
Pegs, tools, etc. as well as electrical cables (1 x 20 m and 2 x 10 m) plus various adapters for Schuko and CEE are also on board.
There is also a small sanitary and shower tent, which, in addition to its actual function, also serves as an additional “garage”.
A bicycle rack with 2 rails for the trailer hitch is also available for the camper.
When you take over the camper, all you have to do is equip it with your personal items such as toiletries, towels, clothing, food, drinks, etc.
Bed linen is not on board - you will need to bring your own (we recommend bringing sleeping bags).
Regarding any planned trips to Spain, Portugal, or Greece, please see our note under "Rental Conditions." You are welcome to go there, too. However, you would need to plan a trip of four weeks or longer.
So, now we are looking forward to hearing from you and your inquiry.
P.S. The ad specifies times for picking up and returning the camper. However, we think we can agree on a time that works best for everyone involved. Those new to Nugget rentals should plan on 2.5 to 3 hours for the briefing.
You're welcome to take a look at the camper in advance. We'll need to schedule an appointment for that. However, you should first familiarize yourself with the Nugget, its capabilities, and your vacation needs on YouTube. Unfortunately, the last renter didn't do that despite my suggestions.
Many thanks and best regards
Mario and Liane
