The van was really well thought through - plenty of storage, easy to drive, and even had the luxury of being able to stand up inside. Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Ruaridh was so helpful before collection and really put us at ease with any concerns we may have had and also sent us a really helpful checklist to use. Ruaridh saved our trip! Our van from Edinburgh was cancelled a day before our trip and we messaged Ruaridh last minute. He replied promptly, went out of his way to ensure the van was ready for us and picked us up from the train station. We completed over 700 miles in the van doing the NC500. It was perfect for the narrow windy roads and fully equipped with everything we needed when staying in campsites overnight (linens, towels, kitchen equip etc.). The induction to the van was excellent and the van was very well taken care of - the sound system in the back was great! My partner and I had an amazing 10 days using Ruaridh's van to go around the NC500. The van is very simple to drive, and it is a great balance between space + practicality. I always felt confident, on the rare occasions it was needed! It is very well-equipped with cooking equipment, bedding, towels, cleaning supplies, and a phone mount for maps. Blackout curtains for sleeping worked well, and we never felt cold. The fridge is sufficient for two people, and the gas worked as expected. Ruaridh is really knowledgeable when it comes to motorhomes and gave us a thorough run-through of the van beforehand. We had an amazing 8-day trip in the van. Perfect for 1-2 people. It is easy to drive, which makes it comfortable to take on some of the small, steep roads out there. Conveniently, the battery is charging very well when driving - we did not hook it up for electric once in the 8 days. Ruaridh is extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us a great induction making us very comfortable with the van from the beginning and helped us with advice along the trip - he was always easy to reach, quick to reply, and sent thorough, well-considered suggestions for hikes or safe places to camp, thanks to his excellent knowledge of the area. Thermos was a great van to explore the highlands with, equipped with everything you might need and powerful enough for the climbs but slow enough to encourage you to lay back and enjoy the spectacular sights Scotland offers. We came to Scotland on a flight and were unable to bring a lot of practical stuff for the journey in the van. So we really appreciated that Ruaridh had thought through most of the practical details and provided things - eg. washing up liquid, bedding, clothes etc. Ruaridh was very prompt and clear with all correspondence. Ruaridh was very accommodating and extremely helpful, even suggesting some great places to visit based on my personal preferences, which did not disappoint. Great trip covering nearly 500 miles in this VW which has been professionally converted allowing space and comfort. Home from home feel as fully equipped including a freezer compartment, 4 burner hob and grill allowing us to experience some off grid camping. Ruaridh gave us a full induction which gave me the confidence to enjoy the time spent in this great vehicle also knowing he was at the end of the phone was a great example of his passion for you to enjoy your time spent with the VW. We had an absolutely amazing experience! The campervan is incredibly well-equipped – it truly has everything you could possibly need. It’s very easy to drive, with the perfect size for manoeuvring and parking, while still offering a comfortable and spacious interior for two people. Ideal especially for those who don’t yet have much experience driving a van. Everything went smoothly with both collection and return, and Ruaridh worked alongside us to quickly overcome any small issues that came up along the way. The deposit was promptly refunded, and the whole process was completely transparent and honest. Ruaridh is exceptionally helpful, honest, and trustworthy. I can't explain how amazing my experience was with Ruaridh and the T4. Ruaridh put so much care and thought into everything about this experience. The van was kitted out with everything you would ever need to enjoy your trip and he explains everything so well. He also helped me out with recommendations which again were all very considered the the type of holiday I needed. I felt so well equipped for my journey in every aspect thatnks to his care and detail. I had the most amazing trip full of walks, hikes, wildlife, reading and stunning sunsets. It was genuinely touching to see how excited Ruaridh was to hear about my adventures. I couldn't have asked for more. I also got to meet Ruaridhs lovely partner Julia who makes truly beautiful pottery. I purchased two mugs and will think of this trip whenever I have a cup of tea and reflect on this mini adventure. Our motorhome broke down and we hired thermos to do the NC500. Ruaridh’s help in a really stressful situation was first class. He helped with our plans and was easily contactable throughout our trip. We had the most amazing time, it was truly remarkable! The van was excellent but my partner and I both agreed that the trip wouldn’t have been the same without Ruaridh and all his careful help. Firstly, the booking process and planning phases were seamless. Ruaridh was attentive and provided incredibly detailed information making the process stress-free. He was patient with us whilst we sent over documents for insurance. When we sent incorrect document Ruaridh was polite and understanding. Ruaridh kindly offered to collect us from the airport which made things much easier, it was a great added service and certainly one we didn’t expect. Ruaridh kindly took the time to share his knowledge and advice for our adventure and the suggestions made were perfect – we will forever be grateful to him for sharing his hidden gems with us. The beaches and campsites he suggested were spectacular, far exceeding our expectations. The van is FAB! It was reliable, sturdy and warm – the perfect road trip companion. Ruaridh’s initial instructions were clear and we felt confident heading off into the wild with our trusty steed. He was cosy [maybe more so with the weather we experienced] but that’s what we expected. When we did have questions [mainly because we were being foolish] Ruaridh’s attentiveness was much appreciated. We both commented it was very reassuring knowing someone was back at base, on hand to help should we need. If you’re considering renting a van in Scotland you MUST rent off Ruaridh, he is knowledgeable, kind and incredibly humble. What an excellent experience from start to finish. Ruaridh gave a thorough run through of everything we needed to know and made some suggestions about the route we should take which actually made our trip so much better. My partner and I spent a 6-7 days roadtrip with super Ruaridh’s campervan around the Isle of Skye and the west coast, and it’s been one of our best roadtrips ever, or probably the best! The campervan, even if it looks “from the 2000”, is in an amazing condition and driving it has been a pleasure. The camper part is very new and built with all the details and very well thought out. Ruaridh has been very nice and one of the key pieces to have such a wonderful experience. He helped us to plan the roadtrip and gave us lots of very good tips for it. Ruaridh was a kind and helpful host who gave us a very detailed induction who also responded quickly to any queries that we had whilst on the road. Our road trip took us all around the NC500 and also across to Skye over 9 days. The camper van was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and although small, it was very comfortable. From initial booking to returning the van at the end of our trip, the customer service and hospitality we received from Ruaridh was above and beyond expected. The location of the van (very close to Inverness airport) and the provision of necessities and more (bedding, blankets, crockery and utensils, phone holder, multiple charging ports, table and chairs) made it extremely easy to fly in with with minimal luggage. Again the location, condition and utility of the van made it extremely easy to travel Scotland’s coastline staying on cliff tops, beaches and campsites all with sufficient supply of water, gas and power. We were due to pick up a different campervan, but 3 days before our trip we received a last minute cancellation from a different advertiser - but aren’t we so glad we ended up meeting Ruaridh and renting his campervan Thermos instead! Ruaridh was so helpful with our last minute stressful situation, doing everything he could to make things work out for us. When we arrived, Ruaridh provided the most hospitable and kind welcome to his area of the world. He gave us a thorough introduction to Thermos and made sure we felt confident heading out on the road, providing lots of recommendations, clear information and brilliant advice. We instantly fell in love with the authentic camper feel and the history of the van. Thermos is equipped with everything you need and is suitable for both wild camping or in one of th many campsites - we did a mix of both, taking Thermos round the North Coast 500, and would definitely recommend this campervan for whatever kind of adventure you’re looking for! Thermos was extremely reliable; we didn’t need to charge the battery once during our 6 day trip, and filled up water every 2/3 days. The bed was extremely comfortable with the mattress topper and provided the best cosy evenings in the most beautiful locations. Ruaridh and his campervan made our week in the highlands so special. We had the trip of a lifetime in Ruaridh's camper! Ruardih did everything he could to make our entire journey from start to finish as smooth and stress-free as possible. Some of our personal highlights from hiring this camper were the close proximity to Inverness Airport, the ability to park up every night off-grid not having to rely on mains gas, water, or electricity giving us the freedom to explore the highlands at our own leisure, and also the incredible sound systems installed in the van meaning we could listen to our favourite tunes mile by mile. An amazing trip, van and host. We couldn't have been happier with or asked for a better adventure week in Scotland. We slept 2 nights "wild" and 2 nights at a campsite. We had an unforgettable experience in Ruaridh's van driving along the North Coast 500. The van was spotless and had all the necessary and high quality items to spend a very comfortable week traveling. We rented the campervan for 7 days and drove it for 600+ miles. We had not a single problem with it. It drives very well and it's perfect size to be droven all along the single lane roads found around the Highlands. The owner (Ruaridh), is been, supportive, reliable and helpful since the first contact on goboony until the last day, when he very kindly brought us to the airport. We spent just under a week doing the NC500, the van was absolutely perfect! It was easy to drive even along single track roads, the layout was excellent and we were able to store all our things easily. It was nice to be able to sit out with the table and chairs and the bed was also really comfy. Ruaridh was so helpful and friendly from the beginning. We had a great trip in Northwest Scotland in Ruaridh's van. It was perfect for 2 people and everything was thought-out and well equipped. We were able to camp off-grid for 3 nights with a full water tank. Ruaridh's communication was great from the first enquiry and he was always on hand if needed. He made sure we knew how everything worked in the van and gave us a handy manual in case we needed reminding of anything on the road (although everything was very simple to work so not a problem). He was great at giving recommendations for places to visit and camp. It was lovely sitting outside on the camping chairs but also very cosy being inside when it was raining and the bed was very comfy.
