Meet Bernard. Handsome chap isn’t he? He comes all the way from California at a time when Elton John was just a rocket man and we were wearing our flares with, well, flair!
He is a Volkswagen T2 Early Bay camper. It’s always been a dream of ours to own a campervan for family adventures, but we never dreamed it would be a van as dapper and smart as our Bernard. We’re keen for others to enjoy escapades with Bernard, so he is here to hire! Bernard is perfect for your family holidays, romantic get-aways and unforgettable nostalgia filled trips. He can sleep 2 adults in his rock-n-roll double bed and a third adult or 2 children in his pop top.
He comes with a whole load of camping accessories to make your glamping adventures easier. Bernard has a double gas stove, leisure battery, fridge (plug in compressor cool box style), electric hook up, tapped water container and all the cooking bits and bobs you may need.
He is in tip top condition for a gentlemen of his age and will take you, albeit at a leisurely pace, on a lovely tour of God’s own country! To get the best from Bernard we ask you to stick to the 100 mile a day limit and give him a rest every hour or so. He is not a marathon runner nor a sprinter!
Additional camping accessories such as an awning, larger plug in cooler, electric heater (hookup only), etc. are available upon request. There are 4 belted seats and an additional buddy seat.
Our base is in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales, Peak District, East Coast, The Lake District and more. Despite this we're less than 2 hours on the train from Central London and can arrange for train station pick up which is less than a 10 minute drive away.
Bernard is a 50 year old van with most of his original features and as such he drives like one! With him being from oversees, he is a left-hand drive and so benefits from a more experienced driver who has patience and will give Bernard the TLC he needs. We will take you on a test drive prior to the start of your adventure and we’re always at the end of the phone to support you on your journey.
