Located near Sheffield and close to the M1, our campervan is a professionally converted 2010 Toyota Hi-Ace with just over 50,000 miles on the clock. It was imported from Japan just over three years ago, and previously belonged to a respected Japanese corporate, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone. Japanese MoT's are much stricter than UK ones, and our base vehicle was well-looked after. With a three-speed automatic transmission, it's easy to drive and manoeuvrable in smaller spaces.
Drivers over 6' 3" (191cm) might find the driving position a little constricted. I'm 5' 10" (178cm) and find it very comfortable.
Our van is well-equipped, with plenty of storage space, as well as sleeping space for up to four people. It has a compact fully-equipped kitchen with a two-burner gas hob, a sink with pump, and a fridge with freezer compartment. There is a full range of kitchen equipment including gas and electric kettles as well as pots, pans and crockery. There is also a fitted flush toilet, and an effective vehicle heater. The vehicle is also fitted with a solar panel and comes with electric hook-up, a steering wheel lock, a radio/reversing camera, fire extinguisher and fire blanket, and has an up-to-date gas safety certificate. The van has a towbar, and for an extra cost of £10 per night, a towbar-mounted three-bike rack can be provided.
Sugihara can also be provided with a large Outdoor Revolution air awning at an extra cost of £20 per night, complete with a two-person inner tent that's ideal for additional guests in cooler weather.
We are flexible on pick-up and return times - anytime between 10:00 and 15:00 is good - and remember to allow about 40 minutes for handover and paperwork. For those who don't want to go a long distance on the first evening there are excellent local campsites at Rother Valley Country Park and Poolsbrook.
