Meet Orla – Your Cosy Retreat on Wheels
Orla is a lovingly converted Mercedes Sprinter with bags of character, warmth, and little details that make van life feel easy and enjoyable. She’s fully off-grid, beautifully lined with wood, and centred around a handcrafted river table. She also has great wifi for those working. She’s perfect for a couple, a solo adventure, or a small family wanting something a bit more personal and peaceful than your standard hire. Pickup or drop off can be arranged from East Grinstead train station if needed — ideal if you’re coming down from London or nearby (50 mins from London Victoria).
* Space to Stretch Out
Orla sleeps three very comfortably on a huge bed — super king sized at its longest (176cm x 200cm). You can sleep lengthways or sideways depending on what suits. The setup easily fits two adults and one child, or one adult and two children. If your children are small, it’s possible to sleep four. One side of the bed is extra long for a taller sleeper, while the other two sections are more suited to average height.
There are three seatbelts in the van, so she’s set up for three travelling passengers.
* Inside the Van
The front passenger seat swivels round to open up the space inside, giving you more room to relax or eat. The river table is both beautiful and useful — great for meals, games, working, or just having a cup of tea with a view. There are two hammocks that hang from the ceiling — great for lounging, reading, or just adding some extra charm. The ceiling also has several strong hooks, handy if you’re travelling with a soft baby cot or want to hang light items like storage bags or towels. In the evenings, fairy lights around the space give everything a soft, warm glow.
* Cooking, Kitchen & Basics
The kitchen is fully set up with a gas oven, two hobs, a grill, sink, and a fridge-freezer that works even off-grid. The van runs on LPG or electric, with solar panels and a leisure battery — so you’re not tied to campsites unless you want to be. There’s also a BBQ grill and utensils provided for outdoor cooking, plus waterproof picnic blankets.
* You’ll also get a welcome basket with:
A selection of teas and herbal teas
Ground coffee (with a non-electric cafetière)
A few local treats — sweet and savoury
Salt, pepper, oil, and a mix of herbs
Fresh cloths or eco sponges
A couple of games and comfort bits
A pot of local jam or honey when available
Eco soap and washing-up liquid
Optional extras for families (colouring sheets, cot hooks, etc.)
