Go West! Self-Drive's new-for-2024 LWB Renault Trafic campervan is perfect for family-sized adventures, boasting significantly more 'elbow room' than you find in VW-type camper, with a very roomy pop-top roof that kids love to climb up to and sleep in, and a high-spec convertible bed that folds properly flat in the main living area for adults.
There's a double passenger seat up front which swivels to face the table, and two-seater bench in the rear. We can provide (optionally as required, but no extra cost - available in the summer season only), a large drive-away awning tent. We also offer a flushing porta-potti or folding camping style dry powder/bag WC (either with an optional pop-up WC tent), outdoor camping table with up to four chairs, and a BBQ with charcoal.
Pots and pans, plates, mugs and cutlery, linens, duvets and towels are all included too, along with basic domestic necessities, and we'll even throw in a Swingball set for family campsite fun, and a carrying rack for up to 4 bicycles. (N.B This rack obstruct the rear doors, but is easily removed and stored when bikes are demounted.)
Between pitches and out on the road, we think the Trafic is more pleasant to drive than a VW, and with its economical (45mpg on a run and well over 600-mile range) diesel engine and cruise control it's a relaxing long distance cruiser that's very well-suited to trips across the UK or into Europe. We're very happy to wave you off on Continental trips, as long as our insurance requirements are met.
Infotainment is handled by a touchscreen that connects wirelessly to both Android and Apple smartphones for Waze or Google Maps navigation and your favourite tunes. There are plentiful charging ports front and rear.
The cab is air-conditioned, and there's a separate diesel heater in the living accommodation to keep you toasty on your winter adventures.
