Luxurious and beautiful Mercedes Marco Polo. Is equipped with almost all the gadgets for "glamping" ;)
The Marco Polo is a factory camper based on the Mercedes V-Class (never say Vito!) and was completed by Westfalia.
We have been driving a bus camper for years and we like this concept the best. Obviously you don't have as much space as in a large white caravan on wheels, but due to its small, handy size, you can get around traffic just as fast, and sometimes even faster, than a normal passenger car. The height of just under 2 meters also ensures that you can drive into most parking garages without any problems.
Engine: Diesel engine (2.2 liter Bluetec) with 2 variable turbos. Delivers 190 HP, so you don't have to worry about not getting up the mountain! This Marco Polo is also equipped with a lot of luxury on board that makes driving comfortable, such as Distronic (adaptive Cruise Control), steering LED lighting, an electrically operated sliding door (quiet at the campsite), tailgate and lifting roof. It is a 4-Matic, so permanent four-wheel drive that provides slightly better road holding and provides more grip, especially on slippery roads. This Marco Polo is also equipped with two solar panels so that you can stand freely for a few days, and almost continuously in the summer. The spacious refrigerator keeps all drinks cool. In addition to the powerful LFP household battery, this MP also has an inverter that supplies 220 V power when you are not "at the post". Of course there is also an awning on board for much-needed shade. I chose to take a loose awning that can be slid into the side of the bus with a string, because the fixed awnings that you see on many of those camper buses are:
1 very ugly; 2 ensure that you can never go through a car wash and; 3, produce wind noise and therefore extra fuel consumption during the 340 days that you do not need your awning!
This bus camper comes into its own when you are traveling as a couple. Then you can leave the ground floor as it is and sleep upstairs without much hassle. We recently took our family (4 people) to Scotland and it went very well. Thanks to the good heater, you can even go on winter sports with it. Kitchen equipment is on board for four people.
Upon consultation, a bicycle carrier for 4 bicycles is possible. A Porta Potti, neatly concealed in a seat stool, is also on board.
