If you want to go to Norway, this is your ideal camper. If you read the whole story, you will know why.
Our well-maintained Pössl Roadcamp is a lovely compact camper and only 5.40 m long (excluding the folding bike carrier), making it easy to go anywhere. To charming small villages with narrow streets and to parking lots for regular cars. Only parking garages are not possible due to the height. You drive it like a large passenger car, even uphill. We deliberately chose this small camper. However, a disadvantage is that if you are of a very large build, the camper is not very suitable for you.
At home, we have a bed that is 1.80 meters wide, so we were very curious how the relatively narrow bed would suit us over-65s. It turned out to be fine: a fixed bed with a good mattress. If you are taller than 1.85 meters, this camper is a bit less suitable for you because the bed is 1.95 meters long.
In the summer of 2022, we took a wonderful 6-week trip through Norway. We only looked for a campsite with a washing machine when we wanted to do laundry. For the other nights, we stayed at the most beautiful camper spots without facilities or somewhere out in the wild (see the photos). Because we have a solar panel and drove almost every day, this was not a problem. We did not need the electricity, toilet, or shower at a campsite, which are very expensive in Norway. As a result, we saved about 1,000 euros on camping costs. In Norway, there are more than enough facilities to empty the toilet and grey water container and to refill water. And thanks to the outdoor tap, we could shower almost every day without needing a shower tent (see photos). Norway is an expensive country, so there was a substantial amount of food in the boxes under the bed so that we only had to go to the supermarket for Wi-Fi, bread, meat, fresh vegetables, and fruit. The many ferries in and to Norway have a price limit for vehicles under and over 6 meters. So at a length of 6 meters (including bike rack), this relatively short camper is also financially attractive.
Because we found the standard shower in the toilet very cramped, we installed an outdoor tap. This allows you to enjoy a lovely shower outside, with or without a shower tent, with hot water! Or, if it is very hot, to rinse off quickly with cold water.
We regularly received requests from couples with a (young) child. This camper is definitely not suitable for that.
There is plenty of closet space. There is enough luggage space under the bed. Inside are 2 chairs, a table, and five practical boxes containing, among other things, a small electric heater (gas heating is also standard).
Both front seats are swivelable and very comfortable. This is pleasant on the road and when you need to sit snugly inside the camper because it is still too cold outside. The table sits in a sliding rail and can be adjusted to various positions, which is nice as it creates space. Since we rarely used the bench, we converted it into a cupboard. This eliminates the bench, but you do gain extra storage space.
You can enjoy your coffee with the sliding door open if sitting outside is too chilly. Prepare your lunch on the go or even cook.
When the bikes are on the rack, the rear luggage compartment remains accessible because the Busbiker (bike carrier) can swivel away. It can carry three bikes with a total weight of 80 kg. So the (electric) bikes can come along! This is also very practical if you would like to visit larger cities. You park the camper just outside the city and then cycle to Groningen, Leeuwarden, Maastricht, Bruges, Cologne, Rome, Vienna, Bergen, or wherever you happen to be. Just remember to wear a bicycle helmet!
We rent out the camper fully equipped with inventory such as kitchen equipment, chairs, a table, games, a shower tent, and other practical items. There is a gas connection on the outside to which you can quickly and easily connect the gas barbecue (Cadac, Safari Chef 2). There is also electricity to charge the bicycles.
A mattress protector, mattress pad, and fitted sheet are on the mattress. You must provide your own pillows, duvet, and towels. We will email you a complete inventory list as soon as the booking is confirmed. We have also created a folder with photos and homemade instructions for everything in the camper, so nothing can go wrong. We clean the camper regularly with a steam cleaner.
We recently installed a screen door and mesh at the rear.
The pick-up time mentioned in the advertisement is flexible. We arrange this in consultation, but it is often possible to pick up the camper in the morning and return it in the afternoon. However, we cannot guarantee this.
In November 2025, Wilke will have passed away from the effects of the terrible disease ALS. So where we stand, by now it will mostly be me.
