Miss Sunshine – Volkswagen campervan, extended model, 2 persons

Extended Volkswagen Transporter from 2012, camper since 2022

For about 10 years now I have been going south for months in the autumn/winter, but not this year because I don't want to miss my grandson for months.
The bus has been converted into a camper three years ago, spacious and quite comfortable (I think) with two swivel front seats and a table that fits in the tailgate, a Webasto parking heater, 4 sleeping places (2 in the lifting roof and 2 downstairs), a two-burner gas stove and running cold water, 3 drawers under the bed and wall cupboards.
The lower bed can be extended to a width of 110 and when folded it becomes a nice sofa.
The bus is less suitable for tall people, because the mattress has a length of approximately 190 cm.
I usually sleep downstairs, but you can also sleep in the pop-up roof. Or one person upstairs and one downstairs.
If you want a thicker mattress, you can place the mattress parts of the top bed and bottom bed on top of each other.
The separate duvets for two people can be stored in the pop-up roof section during the day. The duvet covers are made of luxurious cotton sateen.
Insulating/reflective screens can be attached in the cockpit to protect against sun, cold and prying eyes.
It drives as smoothly as a passenger car.

Because it has solar panels, two extra batteries, and an inverter, you can easily go off-grid, depending on your power consumption, of course.
I can live off-grid for months, but I don't have a laptop or other devices that require more power.
Only the kettle and the cool box require energy.

The batteries are also automatically charged while driving, so you'll virtually never be without power. If necessary, you can also easily charge on land (cables and plugs are provided).
There are both 12v and 220v sockets.
There are also lights on board that run on solar energy.

Take enough water with you in jerry cans (divided over several jerry cans/bottles you can take about 40 liters) and you don't need a camping site, just good apps to be off the grid.
The cockpit features a phone holder for navigation, and you can charge your phone while driving. There's also a deluxe Bluetooth panel for navigation, music, phone calls, and more.

The Webasto parking heater: runs on diesel, very economical. There's a carbon monoxide detector in the van.
Perfect for wild camping, and also suitable for colder weather due to the heating.

There is a small locker for money, passports, driver's license, so you can move freely.
The bus has a Bear lock: anti-theft protection.
Also available is a Travelhawk toilet for comfortable seating.
If required, a mosquito net and snow socks are available (alternative to snow chains).

The kitchen has 2 gas burners and a sink with running cold water.
The large drawer contains crockery, a cafetiere and milk frother and everything you need for cooking.
And tea, coffee and herbs are available as standard on the bus.
There is a small cooler box.

All-weather tires.
The bus drives 1:14 on the highway and has 5 gears.
For sitting outside, there are two folding chairs (Bocamp copa Rio beach) and a folding table in the tailgate.

Since everything is provided on the bus in terms of bedding, linens, and dishes, you only have to pack your suitcase or backpack and I can pick you up at the station nearest to me.
When you turn both front seats around, you have ample storage space behind them for a suitcase/backpack and food.
